Groupie: Affects A Welsh Accent

This little thread is for those of you who live in New York.
My wife Kerstin and I are thinking about coming to New York for a holiday in June (15th-28). We were wondering if someone could give us an idea of a reasonably cheap place to stay.

I`m not across the pond but hubby, daughter and I went to New York over Christmas. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, 2 blocks down from Madison Square Gardens. It is in a decent area and there are restaurants and bars nearby, as well as Macys 2 blocks away etc. You can find the info on their UK website (I booked it through there).

Hotel New Yorker is very nice - we had a room opposite the empire state building.

Also American Airlines were the best deal for us.

Dougie,

Depends on what "reasonably cheap" is. I see rooms advertised on Travelzoo.com all the time for anywhere from $159-$199 a night. That's about 80-100 pounds. You likely won't do any better than that for a place in Manhattan.

Also, check Hotels.com and see what they have to offer. If you have any questions about specific places, feel free to e-mail me at RECORDSOCRWRITER@AOL.COM and I'd be happy to give you opinions/advice or even go give a place an in-person look if it helps.

Thanks Tim. That's appreciated. We are going to sort out flights and stuff and see the hotels. We had a little look and some were really expensive for the duration of our stay. Others got really poor reviews but were quite cheap. I guess we just have to decide what kind of place we want to stay in.
It would be nice Tim if when we have everything sorted that maybe you could come and hang out with us for dinner one night or even recommend some shows that might be happening whilst we are there. Cheers buddy.

The Chelsea Savoy is a pretty good deal. It's on W. 23rd street, not far from some good nightlife. you could probably find a room for a little over $100 per night
