Hello Everybody,
I'm hours away from boarding a plane to Africa for the start of Kilimanjaro Rocks.
You can follow the trek as it happens at
www.kilimanjarorocks.orgThere is a link to send text messages to our LHS Satellite Phone so please try and get a message to Jules and I, as we would love to hear from you while we are on the mountain.
A lot has happened since the last installment of Love Hope Strength activity on Snowdon / Rhondda earlier in the summer.
In August, I was fortunate to be invited to take part in the Global Cancer Summit in Dublin where I met Professor David Hill (President of the International Union Against Cancer), who invited Love Hope Strength Foundation to be a member of the union (UICC). Special thanks to everyone who signed the World Cancer Declaration that I messaged you about from Dublin, as together we did achieve the target of 100,000 signatures.
While we are on the trek, the dawn of October 2nd marks the start of LIVESTRONG Day, a global action to raise cancer awareness instigated by Lance Armstrong. We will all be taking part from Kilimanjaro by wearing something yellow for the day to show our support.... feel free to join us if you like.........
www.livestrongaction.org/In Africa, we will be working with the UICC for the first time and providing support for a mobile childhood cancer unit which is looking to set down roots in Tanzania and need help getting the facility going.
Please keep us in your thoughts as the climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro is not for the feint hearted and we will all need a tremendous amount of support and encouragement to make it to the top...... and of course, unlike normal mountain climbers, I've still got to find enough energy to sing when we get there on October 6th at the grand height of 19,336 feet.
I'll be back in touch again soon with exciting news of 4 (Four) Mike Peters and The Alarm new music releases and tours plus all kinds of exciting future events.....
Please note that the 21st Century Office (MPO) will be closed for the duration of Kilimanjaro Rocks from September 27th until October 10th, and the new Passports for this years Gathering in Prestatyn, will be sent out by the end of October when we will be launching a brand new
www.thealarm.com and a dedicated Gathering website............
Until then,
Love, hope and strength,
Mike Peters
