!Marillion & Mike Peters! Two of my favorite bands, one from each extreme of my musical taste buds.
What kind of crazy dream would be to have Mike join the Marillion lads for a few songs.
Mike on lead vocals for Kayleigh and the lads doing a 20 minute version of The Stand! The encore would be a new song called "Where Were You Hiding When The Grendal Broke?"

Message Dated Aug 13 2008 Due to unforeseen circumstances the Festival has been CANCELLED Until further notice We are currently in negotiations for the use of a fully liscensed festival site for the same weekend Please keep checking this website for the latest information
I recently found out, after receiving a Marillion eWeb email, that it was initially cancelled and had had now moved to the new site of Chepstow racecourse. Though Marillion were no longer able to make it, as they had now made other plans.
I rang the organisers, this morning and they said Mike Peters was still due to appear, along with Wayne Hussey, Cerys Matthews etc, but with Marillion no longer appearing and the change of venue, a large number of people have asked for a refund. Because of this, they will be deciding on Monday if it is still financially viable to go ahead, so best to check their website from then onwards.

Unfortuantely it wasn't enough to keep the ticket buyers happy, as with so many wanting refunds it is now definitely CANCELLED.
A great shame as the sister event to this, The 2nd Acoustic Festival of Britain was good and the Sunday of Rock n Roots that Mike was due to play, had quite a good line-up - even without Marillion (Personally, I've never really got into the Post-Fish stuff and preferred seeing Fish live, playing the early songs, which they seemed to have left to him to do).
I hope the organiser's have better luck with venues and manage to run another one of these next year plus Mike on the bill again.
Sunday that Mike was due to play

Non- Alarm/MP Plug: Fish's is latest release 13th Star is the best collective thing he has ever done solo. Dark and emotional. Stunning! http://www.the-company.com/
Give post Fish Marillion a second listen, granted the lyrical edge isn't there but the rest is top notch. Don't let those silly critics fool you. Try the double album Marbles. It is a prog rock (if you have to call them that) London Calling! Free sampler of some of their modern work at http://www.marillion.com/listen/index.htm
Sorry about the highjack but it is really good stuff. Greg
