This year, for the first time, I was fortunate to be able to join the Snowdon Rocks 3 trekkers. I wouldn’t have called myself fortunate (or a trekker) if you’d have asked me when I was 800 metres up, stood with friends Karl and Chloe (& GPS), wondering why my legs felt like bags of blancmange. Still, there’s a lot to be said for blancmange, and 3 hours later, sat in the café, with a bottle of ‘Dark Side of the Moose’, listening to the band/MP blast out 'Wishing Well', it was a different matter.
It didn’t seem at all strange then, to think that walking 10 miles, 1085 metres up, in the pouring rain (albeit with some great, and up-close, Mike Peters tunes) that we were actually having a good time.
Mike may be the driving force, but a huge team of musicians, walkers, organisers and family, made the day a privilege to be part of.
I hope my photos (see Steve's link above) help capture the spirit of the day, and in some small part encourage you to participate next year.
See you there...we can compare blancmange!

The pictures are great, as was the day itself... My first time in Wales, first time up Snowdon and also my first time meeting the man himself.
Mike is such a great guy and to see the way he just wandered in amongst us all, guitar in hand, belting out those songs that we all grew up listening to on those funny big black LP's - (my daughter thinks they are giant black Cd's) was something else.
I can't wait for Snowdon Rocks 4. Apologies to the two lovely ladies that are now left blinded after my kilt blew up around my neck in high winds, three quarters of the way up the mountain ...just as well it was misty there or the damage could have been far greater!
It was a 730 mile round trip for me but its a weekend I will remember for a very long time.
Rain, what rain? From the photos the Rhondda trek looks like it favoured the walkers a little more than the reception we had, but it only lasted an hour or so and if it didn't stop Mike playing, then it wasn't gonna put the rest of us off....I had a great time and I can't wait for the next adventure...
The three hours or so of all kinds of acts from the Welsh Rugby Choir ( some of whom walked with us ) to the set Chris did and of course Mike's bit was a fitting end to the day..lots of photos and wee videos on my phone to keep me going until the next event...
See you all at The Gathering!
Best Regards from Jimmy McScottish
