The MPO office is currently closed and will reopen on Fri 21st August. If you need to make contact with us, we will be checking email at mpo@alarmpo.demon.co.uk
The Gathering has been the fastest selling Gathering so far. The Gathering Information Packs will now be sent out in September to coincide with the launch of the new Gathering micro website. To those of you attending the Gathering, we are asking if you could write a short profile of yourself and your Alarm history, why you are attending the Gathering, your Gathering history etc. You will be receiving an email from us here at MPO with more Gathering information over the next few weeks.
We are awaiting confirmation of Alarm UK Tour dates for Nov/Dec and hope to announce these dates as soon as possible.
Mike and the band return to New York to play Music Fest on September 12th. During this trip, Mike will be hosting a bus trip as part of Philly Rocks, a Love Hope Strength Foundation event and The Alarm will be appearing on National US TV. More details to follow.
Whoa Whoa Whoa. Back up. You kind of just snuck that last part in there.
"The Alarm will be appearing on National US TV."
I hope those details will be coming posthaste. If the band is going to be on one of the talk shows in the NYC area, we need as much time as possible to try to get tickets. Those shows are usually booked months in advance. We should try to have as many Alarm fans in the audience as possible.

Doesn't Letterman etc. have day tix? Not that I'm insinuating it's an appearance on his show but I always see people waiting on line. And for shows like the Today show they usually have lines at Rockefeller Ctr.

As far as I know about Letterman, tickets are usually spoken for months in advance. Many months. There is the possibility of getting tickets day of show, but that would require lining up several hours before the audience goes into the studio (around 5 PM, if memory serves) and not knowing if you're actually going to make it in. The stand-by people only get in if there are empty seats because people weren't able to make it. So, let's say 25-30 NYC Alarm fans lined up for the show that night. It's possible that some of us would get in, but not all.
But, since it's "something else," as Steve said, the point is moot. (still one of the best SNL skits of all-time)
Bill, I also don't doubt the MPO would do everything they can for the fans, but some things are out of their control. I'd think it would be doubtful they could go to Letterman's people and say "We need 40 tickets for the show." The overwhelming majority (95-98%) are spoken for long in advance of the air date. Obviously, we don't know which show it will be, but hopefully something can be worked out.
Thanks, Steve, for looking into that.
The big question -- Which song does the band perform? Or, if they get two songs, which two?

Might be coverage on VH1 or a news network spot on Mike's cancer work?
As for Letterman, tix are often available the day of the show. You can try waiting in line, or you can look around for one of the interns wearing Late Show/Worldwide Pants jackets. They often are recruiting people.
