So this Friday is the final night in Glasgow of the Guerilla Tactics Tour and what an absolute blast it has been on the first two nights. Another sold out show should mean that King Tuts will bouncing like crazy. It's been great seeing the support that The Alarm have had in Glasgow and I hope that this night will be the most special of all.

As soon as I'm home I'll load the pictures up and try and get links up as soon as I can.

If any one who is going can do one big favour for me, for the forum and that is to try and get a record of the set list. I'll try my best to get one but it would be nice if someone else could do it just in case I fail.

I know they are back in Glasgow in December supporting the Simple Minds but it won't be the same (though they'd blow Mr Kerr and crowd off the stage!).

Next Alarm stop after this show for me, The Gathering 17! Can't wait Smiler

Well what a night!
I will let Glasgow Doug tell you in his own way (it's probably the best review you'll get - and it will be!) but can I say 'What a night!'

Glasgow was rocking tonight with THE ALARM of the last of their Glasgow gigs and what a night it was.
All i will say is ..............I'm glad I was there.............

I have witnessed many concerts in my Alarm lifetime but this goes down as one of the best. Right from the word go Mike and the band were in top form and that enthusiasm was returned in kind by the audience, the whole place rocked from start to finish. Every song was sung back at the band and they loved it. At the break Mike mingled with the crowd signed autographs posed for photos and he was in his element. He then started the second half wandering thru the crowd singing "we r the light" and "walk 4 ever" the whole place was buzzing then when you think it couldn't get any better the band join in and they launch into "rescue me" with Mike still in the crowd, mental is the only word I can use to sum up the reaction, Mike ended up surfing over the crowd trying to say the monologue, You know the one, until he eventually makes it back onto the stage and the whole place is bouncing. All the old favourites were in the set as well as loads of the new material and it all sounded brilliant, we were even treated to a bit of The Proclaimers walk 500 miles which went down a storm. As Hoopster says I'm glad I was there. I can't thank Mike and the band enough, if there is a better rock n roll band out there just now please let me know cause I would love to see them but I know I will have a long wait cause there isn't one. Any Simple Minds fans who read this do yourself a favour and go along and watch The Alarm before Jim Kerr and Co go on and come back on this site and tell us what you think.
Once again Mike and the band have set a standard that other bands will never reach and from a personal point of view I would like to say thanks to Mike for being such an inspiration you don't know how much your music and lust for life has helped me thru difficult times recently.

I would like to thank Mike and the Band for a fantastic 3 nights at King Tuts. I do think they are sounding as good as they have ever done. No luck re the set list, they had given out the one or two copies. It was nice to see Mike Peters body surfing back to the stage whilst singing Resuce me, but he was lucky he did not get thrown out like some others for doing the same thing.... If only I had got tickets now for Simple minds but heh I hope we get to see Mike and the boys again back in Glasgow before too long. Next time can we have some more accoustic stuff???? Thanks again xx

Kihg Tuts was immense, the sheer energy that came from Mike and the boys lifted the whole crowd. When Mike suddenly appeared from the bar i thought i was dreaming. As a live experience it cannot be beaten, but there was one problem. Why such a small venue?we were asked by at least 5 people outside for spare tickets,my friend came in about 9pm and had to listen to the first half from the bar as it was impossible to see the band due to the confined space.Last year the ABC was far better, venue wise. Please Mike dont undersell the pulling power The Alarm still hold, the hardcore will always come, but one of the guys with me was seeing his first live Alarm gig,as i had played him some stuff,so the appeal is still growing.Anyway thanks for another supreme Alarm experience.Keep on rocking in the free world.

Thoroughly enjoyed king tuts on fri night together with my wife and 18yr old daughter. The highlights for me were a sold out venue, mikes in the crowd performance, the crowd participation from start to finish, hearing some of the new material live for the very first time and getting a buzz from mike obviously enjoying playing for us as much as we were enjoying seeing and listening to him. His energy and enthusiasm really would put a man half his age to shame. I must confess that I would like to have heard more of the new material and also one or two punk covers.Sorry but the proclaimers 500 miles was not for me.I would rather have had a skids/big country cover if a scottish theme was the aim.Overall it was a great night but what happened to Henry Cluney as the support and why was there no announcement or explanation as to why he didnt play? There were a lot of"fingers" t-shirts on display and I wonder how many of them were there to see him and deserved an explanation.Having seen him many times myself with slf I was very curious to hear what material he was going to play also.On a lighter note it was quite funny to see a punter who was on the shoulders of his mate being pulled to the front of the stage by the bouncers(lightweight bouncers I thought not like the old glasgow appollo bears)man handled out a side exit then appear 3 or 4 songs later back on the shoulders of his mate slightly further away this time gesticulating to the bouncers once more....priceless. A great nights entertainment and look forward to the next time which could be ben nevis.I would certainly climb that backwards to see mike rather than pay to see simple minds!

I thought Glasgow Doug might have posted about the last night in Glasgow but he has let others do the talking for him , and good for you ma' man.I met GDoug for real the first time at the last Gig at King Tuts and can I say what a Gent he is!
The gigs at King Tuts were great and as special to me as to all who have posted on here and to all the rest of the Fans(Glasgow and afar) who went to all the Residency Gigs throughout the Uk.

Mike and The Band have obviously went to great lengths planning ALL the Gigs from scratch and have carried out their task to a tee!

They have managed to capture The Fans enthusiasm with different songs on different nights...taking in requests at the break and carrying them out with all that is needed and encouragement that stands before them.

Mike taking time out during the break, talking, listening and having photos taken with Fans just shows how far this guy will go to please His Fans and it's his way of saying thanks too...How many other main men from Bands would carry out this kinda stuff in his style....Nobody , and that just shows what kinda guy he is.

From the early 80's Mike has continued to show how much he appreciates His Audience and to this day , he sets out a message to all the people in the Music World......Appreciate Your Audience, treat them as Friends, and you might get the same back! It's just a pity so many other Bands don't take a leaf outta His book.

Mike , if you catch this , Congratulations on being the Gentleman that you are and long may you carry on giving so much pleasure to the people that come and see you.......Marching On!

Roll on The Gathering , I've got my ticket!

Excellent photo's again Doug.
You have done a great job capturing the images of the three nights.
Every Alarm gig is like a get together of old friends, the chance to make new friends, I remember on the second night, I was outside talking to Lilly from America, Helen from England and Doug from Scotland.
What a group and what a fanbase can't wait for the Gathering, if you have never been before take my advice and get yourself there, you won't regret it.

James

Thanks James. I think you are right about the shows being like a get together of friends old and new. If there is one thing that stands out about going to an Alarm show besides the music it is the sense of community among the fans. The Gathering of course is the ultimate act of community among fans of The Alarm. I'm gonna try and capture some of that at the up and coming Gathering. So if I take anyone's picture and ask for your name don't be surprised if your pictures don't end up somewhere on this site. I'll maybe write a little more about this somewhere else. Basically I want to create a really good Photo Essay of The Gathering 17 and hope that others would not object to being part of it.
