It has gone very very quiet on the Dead Men Walking Front. Does anyone have any news on a possible new tour??

Cheers

Went to Bridlington to see Kirk Brandon a couple of weeks ago in a very intimate venue (56 people) and asked him about DMW. I don`t think it is dead and buried, let`s hope for something new in the New Year.

Not sure what is up with Dead Men walking, but it sounds like Mike has a new 'side' project: Los Mondos Bongos.

From what I have read, it features Mike, Smiley Barnard and Pablo Cook (both from Joe Strummer's second great band The Mescaleros) and Derek Forbes (former bassist for Simple Minds..or maybe current bassist as they have reformed).

Hi Gibs.. to clarify re LMB.. Mike is involved, along with Smiley, Derek and Steve Harris (ex Spear Of Destiny, Gary Numan band etc), and also Pablo I believe. Simple Minds current line up (well on last UK tour) was Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Mel Gaynor, Eddie Duffy (bass) and Andy Gillespie on keyboards, though Mark Taylor has also played with them over recent years. I am not sure if they have an interchangeable role, or if Mark Taylor was just busy doing other stuff at the time. (I understand that this could have been the case).

Thanks for clarifying, Shirl. Simple Minds might get the award for being the band with the most line-up changes over the years. Someone with my same name also played for them.

Has LMB played any dates in the UK? It sounds more like a bunch of Joe Strummer fans going out and having fun than a band.

You're a Giblin then possibly??

To my knowledge, LMB haven't played any UK dates yet though there are some in the pipeline. I think they are mixture of admirers/exStrummer related musicians, but by their pedigree, should be well worth seeing if you get the chance.
