Newbie: Just Learned About The Gathering

Hi all, made it back to Rochdale after a great weekend in Cardiff and a great set last night by Mike at CLWB IFOR BACH,my first visit to this venue and its not that big but was packed and generated a great atmosphere and as always Mike didnt disappoint and was in fine voice during the 2 hour set in fact vocaly this was as good as i have heard Mike and hes always great but maybe hitting 50 has given him a new lease of life as last night he was exceptional!!!!
The night started with the excellent 4TH STREET TRAFFIC as the opening band, very impressed with these guys, very solid musicaly with a great vocalist and some great songs so it was a very good start!!
Mike was i believe meant to do two forty five minute sets with a break in the middle but in true Mike style he played two hours straight through and it was to me any fans dream set full of all the classics you would expect with a few newer songs like LHS and 3 SEVENS CLASH in there as well but as ever it was more than worth the long drive there and back!!!
Of course there was a few "Happy Birthday" songs from the crowd and a couple of birthday cakes sent onstage by fans!! Great gig and Mike looked to love every second of it as did the packed venue!!!
Thanks Mike and MPO for letting us share Mikes 50th birthday in style and heres to lots more over the coming months and years from a guy who just gets better with age!!!!!!

Cheers for that Mick-makes it even worse having missed it Wink

I've seen the support band a couple of times. If anyone goes to Rugby matches in Cardiff, they seem to have a bit of a residency in the open air at Cardiff rugby club (it's near one of the entrances to the Stadium and open to all)after matches, weather permitting! Even though they do less of their own stuff there as they play the crowd well and do covers, the singer does seem to have that "something about him".

Anyway, glad there was a good turnout for the main man. Trying to talk myself into going to The Cavern on Tuesday!

yep a great night..im not a lover of the venue due to the stage being too low,and the room beinga bit small to move around in, but it does generate a great atmosphere..
Mike used this and worked the crowd like the master he is..brilliant mix of songs some i would not have expected acoustic..father to son my highlight..
Thanks Mike
