OK, I had written a big introduction to this, but decided it was crap when I read it back and figureed I'd spare everyone who clicked on this post.
The main things you need to know about this gig was that it may have been the first time Mike had played New York City in about a year. So, obviously, it was great to have him back. The other important aspect was that Rue and Liz were at the show, fresh off their nuptials and enjoying their honeymoon by doing -- what else? -- going to a Mike Peters concert.
Oh, and Steve Messina deserves special credit for making the run to Brooklyn to get harmonicas that had been forgotten. Without Steve's effort, it would have been a decidedly different show. (Quick aside, Steve looks great. He's lost 50 or so pounds and is working out and looking JACKED)
Anyway, on to the show. Mike looked good, sounded strong as he tore through the set. But what I heard a lot of people talking about after were the stories he was telling between songs. He also got a few laughs from the room.
Unlike past acoustic shows, Mike came in with a setlist of songs he wanted to play. At past acoustic shows, Mike has asked the fans to just call out songs and he'd play it. I preferred this way. Mike knew what he wanted to play and he played it.
And here is the setlist
