Hey guys,

I'm heading down to Jersey today heading for the Asbury Park area to stay with fellow alarmheads MaryEllen & Nick before we set our sights on Pt. Pleasant Beach & the hot sounds of THE ALARM blasting out onto the boardwalk!

Don't know exactly where we'll be meeting up prior to the gig with lots of people not getting there til after 5pm - but the doors aren't opening until 7pm so we'll have a chance to find a good place with cheap, cold beverages & decent food nearby and will make sure you can find us when you get there (look for a sign on the door to the club or a trail of post it's showing you the way!! Big Grin )

After all, they don't call me MsMEETnGREET for nuthin', ya know??!! Cool

Or call me if you get there & can't find anyone you recognize waiting around in line & I'll talk you in. My cell is 325-320-4717

hey sheri nice to meet you - i'll look for you guys in the line outside - i'll be in khaki green capri pants and an EVEREST ROCKS black t-shirt. i have feathered blond hair and glasses and am only about 5 ft 2 so look for me when you get there. also we usually 'gather' at the merch booth to chat with forum/fanclub folks so if you ask anyone at the merch table if they know lyn they should be able to point me out to you.

also, there has been a change of schedule for tonight's show - doors are at 7pm but the alarm will be going on at 730 because the furs need to go on early - at 830 - and then the fixx are playing last - after the fireworks.

so spread the word GET THERE AS SOON AS YOU CAN

Here's the setlist from Point Pleasant Beach:
Superchannel
Where Were You Hiding When the Storm Broke?
Without a Fight
Absolute Reality
Rain in the Summertime
Rescue Me
Spirit of 76
45 RPM
Spirit of 76
68 Guns

Spirit of 76 and 45 RPM were performed medley style, which is why I listed Spirit twice.
As Lily said in another post, the venue was very cool and quite unusual, something James commented on later in the evening. He could see the ocean from the stage, which faced the beach outside. The club is right on the boardwalk and had an abundance of bars.

The strangest thing that happened all night was Mike being bloodied by the microphone. The stand lurched forward as Mike was diving into it to sing on Rain in the Summertime and Mike was clearly startled when microphone crashed into mouth. It was plainly obvious seconds later that his lip was bloodied. To his credit, Mike never missed a note and at one point just swiped his sleeve across his mouth to get rid of the blood. After the song, Mike got a towel and quickly cleaned himself up. Fortunately, the cut was small and healed quickly. He commented on it a couple of minutes later, saying "Looks like we have a little blood on the tracks tonight. A lot worse than this has happened to me."

Later on during Spirit of 76, Mike tossed the microphone stand out of the way at one point, but the microphone cord got tangled up in it and was disconnected. Fortunately, it was re-attached quickly and Mike even ad-libbed a line "And now the microphone is on, well that don't make me no hero, I'm just one of the lucky few..."

The only complaint I had with the show was its length. I know they don't have much time to play, but 45 minutes just goes by way too fast. The energy of the show was amazing and Mike was all over the stage and jumping around like someone 20 years younger.
And now, on to Boston...

Great show Monday - very exciting to see The Alarm right here in my backyard (we do the summer beach/bar/concert scene very nicely here at the Jersey Shore...)

As Tim said, the set was way too short! Enjoyed the Psychedelic Furs very much, though, and the Fixx as well.

As always, great to see the NJ/NY Alarm crowd. I hope all of you heading to California have a great time. Looking forward to the Music Fest in Sept!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth now that I have had a chance to take it all in & get to my computer during daylight! Cool

Wow - 2 unbelievably great gigs in NJ and Boston this week! So many great moments it's hard to choose highlights, but here goes:

Pt. Pleasant Beach:
- got there just in time for soundcheck - which featured a rockin' GET DOWN & GET WITH IT and a few other gems from the distant past, too!!
Got to say HI to Mike & the boyz & see James new haircut from upclose, too. And Steve in his vintage SLF tank! Woo! Woo! ;-) I heard they did do some swimming in ocean later (as it was 98 degrees) and I saw Mike with his feet in the sand but didn't get any pix of that.

- great open-air restaurant location right on the beach/boardwalk gave us a great place to hang out with Steve, James & Craig after their set during The Fixx's late slot that night. I'll put my pics on my MYSPACE page if you want to check them out! - great set by Mike who was
jumping around on stage so much he almost topled into the crowd at one point! Songs sounded great - same general set list and very little talking in between the songs to make the most of their 45 mins.

- great hospitality by the NYC locals who came down for the show and my hosts from Tintern Falls - thanks MaryEllen & Nick! Evan, you mad man hope you got home safe! Bill, Tim, Michelle - sorry you had to leave early but it was great to see you there! Lily, Lowry, Chrissy & Andrew - always great getting kicked out of a venue with you guys as the last
ones out! ;-) Simmo & Steve - missed you guys big time at the front, esp. during 45 rpm's mosh pit.

- I thought the Furs were phenomenal at this show - they went on 2nd and Richard Butler was so energetic I thought 'is this the same guy I
saw on stage from the last tour???' I'll put up the video on YouTUBE and you can judge for yourself if he seems like his normal self or he
was maybe channeling BOWIE that night?? It made for a good show, that's all I know! And they stuck to their hits, too, so it was a
solid non-stop set.

BOSTON!!!

- the ride up from NJ was a KILLER being so hot & humid & meant I missed getting into soundcheck, but we heard it from where the line
started and they sounded great again.

- met up with locals Steph, Bonnie, Susan, Chuck and Michael & Jen in the line before doors opened and welcomed Tim from NYC and Terri & Matt from LA who'd been at the Jersey show the night before. Also met a few more online lurkers inside - Chris & chris from way back, Tim & Jim from the Hard Rock shows and even our buddy from RI who's band opened
for The Alarm back during the residency @ the Middle East! Definitely a good crowd of alarm fans with lots of t-shirts proudly worn up at the front when they took the stage.

- a new friend, Peter, discovered Mike's punk pin from his jacket had come loose & dropped on the stage during the set, so we were able to
bring it back to him at the end of the night and chat with Steve abit before heading out. Mike's voice was a bit gruff as he'd been in the
AC all day due to the heatwave conditions from NJ to Boston so he didn't come out to talk with us but he was really 'chuffed' to have his
pin returned and gave a big thumbs up & a smile to Peter to say thanks.

- Great sound & a nice big stage, great crowd response and packed house for the show - and a record store was doing a promotion for THE FIXX so you could get your cds signed by them after their set so I did cuz they do play some great songs in their set - but they still seem to be 'the weakest link' in the line-up. I think it's something to do with too much synth in the mix - makes their songs too hypnotic or something. They did get the crowd really involved in STAND OR FALL that night, and
I have a good video of RED SKIES @ NIGHT, too. I did hear good responses from a lot of people in the crowd but for me they just can't hold a candle to the alarm in terms of stage presence and now that the furs are picking up the pace abit too, it still leaves them sor of bland by
comparison.
