Newbie: Just Learned About The Gathering
Posted
Hi all, just wanted to mention i went to see The Goo Goo Dolls at Birmingham Academy last night and i wore my Alarm Under Attack Tour T Shirt and it was great that so many people stopped me at the gig who had seen them last Saturday in Birmingham or had seen the band recently and said how great they are and how much they had enjoyed The Alarm gig they had been to!!!
Most i spoke to hadnt seen Mike and a Alarm line up since the Eye Of The Hurricane days so its shows that Mike and the new line up along with the new album is bringing back the fans to its music and the feedback is very very positive!!!!!!!See you all in Manchester!!-Mick

I had two recent experiences like that here in Montreal. The first one occured a few months back at a restaurant before the Arctic Monkeys gig. As I was walking out of the restaurant (wearing my In The Poppy Fields 2004 Tour shirt), I overheard a guy telling his friend "Hey... look.... that guy is wearing an Alarm Tshirt." The second sighting happened at The Cult concert here last week. I was wearing my Coloursound shirt.... when my brother spotted a dude in the crowd wearing an Alarm Poppy Fields shirt.

All of this comes back to my complaint that I had posted on the old forums... why can't we buy NEW UNDER ATTACK shirts through the store yet? By the time they are available.... no one will care anymore. UGHHHH..... The Alarm's next record should be called Bad Timing.... it sums up their history quite well.

1. Same thing happened to me at Noah;s Bagles a few weeks back with an "Under Attack" shirt.

2. Jules was supposed to send me that info for the new shirts. I'll ask again.

I was wearing my DAVE SHARP LIVE 2003 tour shirt in Cheltenham last week and someone asked me who he was...when I said 'the guitarist for THE ALARM' he said he knew of the band - which was very encouraging, as I usually have to say "they were big in the 80's and toured with u2..." in order for people to place them.

PS Steve, please find out if they're also going to do any girly-sized tshirts for the states or online ordering, along side the double XL's they always go for. Thanks.

Well, I got to admit Although I tihnk I already did in one of my first posts in the forum.

The new album made me re discover the band. I bought the album first day it was out and hooked again after about an 8 year absence from listening to them, apart from a couple of songs I have on mp3, hmmm maybe about 4 songs.
And now I have had to buy a few more albums I already have but on vinyl, so i needed the cd's of declaration, strength and hurricane, the rest will have to wait, lol.
So as well as me listening to them all the time again my two kids are too and....and.. .miracles never cease, MY WIFE!!! the same wife that doesnt like much of any of my music ( as she says she has outgrown all this rock music stuff, lol)
I had two ticket to see them in glasgow and could not find someone to go with that could make it so my wife said she would come with me and she loved it.

I think it will take me a while though to get used to the newer members. I saw the alarm so many times in the 80's it seemed different this year seeing just mike as the only original one.
Saying that i think they are all great musicians as they had proved in glasgow and the other places they have played so it is nothing personal from me to the new members, just me. I will come round one day.

anyway, I have babbled on a bit longer than I was going to but that is not unusual for me.
